Rabies awareness campaign heads to streets of Northcliff

NORTHCLIFF – Be sure to take your dog out for some air and medication on 29 September.

Buddies4Ever NPC are hosting a rabies vaccine walk for pet owners.

The Greymont Rabies Day Dog Walk, which takes place on 29 September this year, a day after World Rabies Day, will aim to be a day of action and awareness for rabies prevention.

CEO of Buddies4Ever, Riaan Greeff said “The aim is to raise awareness for rabies and give each and every member of the community that comes free rabies vaccinations.”

They also hope to make the public aware that Buddies4ever are available to assist lower income families with all animal services at reduced prices.

Greeff believes that rabies is taken seriously by pet lovers and owners. “I think that people realise the importance of vaccinating their pets for rabies prevention.”

This dog walk will extend the knowledge and information to those that are not pet owners and prepare them for the day they plan to become one.

Greeff added, “With the education programs we are running, we find that especially the younger communities are more knowledgeable and willing to learn than the older ones.”

Buddies4Ever is a non-profit company who does animal welfare in the area and is part of the Global Alliance for Rabies Control.

The event isn’t exclusive to pet owners but open to the public as a whole.

Goodie bags will be given to those in attendance and other activities such as a potjiekos competition will be hosted at the event.

There will also be a flea market on the day to ensure that everybody is entertained.
