Brixton police station’s hard working female detective see results

Female detectives were hard at work during women’s month as they were involved in key convictions.

Brixton Police Station is thankful to have such women working with them, solving crimes and making the community a safer place.

Spokesperson for the Brixton police, Jeanette Backhoff said, “These convictions are due to hard work and determination.

All evidence was obtained and they made sure that all statements were correct all the crucial information was obtained. It is clear that these female investigating officers cannot be taken lightly when it comes to their work.”

The detectives who made such an impact are Constable Mukondeleni Muhanelwa, Constable Ouma Shika and Sergeant Jennifer Morgan.

Constable Muhanelwa investigated a case of house robbery where the suspects stole cell phones and ran away. One of the suspects was arrested, tried in court and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.

Constable Shika investigated a case of housebreaking and theft in November last year.

Four suspects were found guilty and convicted on 6 September this year and they were all sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, suspended for five years.

Sergeant Morgan investigated a case of armed robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Two suspects were arrested and both were found guilty and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, suspended for five years and declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Backoff said these detectives really put in the time, energy and personal resources to make their convictions a success.

“These ladies worked over weekends and really went the extra mile with the investigation of these cases. Sergeant Morgan even paid money for transport for the main witness out of her own pocket to appear in court.”
