DSJ to host their 111th Schulbasar

MILPARK – Take a pitcher, it will last longer.

One of the city’s most popular social events is back for a record 111th time.

Deutsche International Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) will host the annual Schulbasar on 26 May.

The Schulbasar is a showcase of German culture and tradition popularised by the loads of authentic German beer that will be available. This year the school will host its 111th edition of the event, which promises to give the ultimate German experience.

Like every year, the event is not only for beer lovers but the whole family. There will be 60 different stalls all stocked with food, drinks, games and activities to keep you entertained throughout the day.

All those coming will get to experience the joys of Germany in South Africa. Delicious German specialities such as matjes, fleischkäse, schnitzel, bratwurst, currywurst, eisbein and kartoffelpuffer will be on sale.

The school made the German spectacular even harder to resist by adding a list of music performances to ensure that there is some fun in the sun.

Scheduled to set the stage alight with their music are Velvet Sounds Oompah Band, Dominic Neill, Vin Deysel and the Dixie Hillbillies.

The school does not support drinking and driving and has therefore partnered with Uber. New Uber users can receive up to R50 off their first trip when using the promo code BASAR18.

To ensure that everyone gets to take a piece of Germany home with them, all those (over 18 years old) in attendance will be given free beer mugs at the entrance.

Secure parking will be available at Frank Brown Park (opposite DSJ, Napier Road) at R50 per car.

Tickets for #Basar18 are still on sale. Pre-sale tickets will cost R130 for over 18s and R80 for pensioners and people under 18.

Tickets at the gate will cost R150 for over 18s and R80 for pensioners and people under 18. Children under 12 years old enter for free.
