Ward 88 gets it’s councillor

David Hensman won the candidate elections with 79.34 per cent votes.

The votes are in and Ward 88 officially has their councillor.

David Hensman will now take charge of the ward after he won 79.66 per cent of the vote.

He went up against the ANC who received 7.34 per cent, EFF who garnered 0.96 per cent votes and an independent candidate who managed to net 12.04 per cent of the votes.

Hensman previously told the Northcliff Melville Times he became involved with the DA because he felt that he needed to become more politically aware.

He was previously a PR councillor within the City of Johannesburg. His new role is one he knows he can fulfill to his best.

After weeks of campaigning, Hensman said his win was one he was very pleased by. He explained that his biggest challenge is to break the perception that the DA communicates with its community poorly.

“People want visibility, however, I know it will be difficult to please everyone,” said Hensman.

When asked what sentiments he wanted to share with his community, he said, “Thank you all for your support, I got the role because you see the good I could do for the community.”
