A clean police station is a productive one

PARKVIEW – Local police station gets cleaned.

Parkview Police Station keeps the streets of their policing area clean of criminals, but who keeps the actual station clean?

The station is kept in tip-top shape by only two people who do everything from maintaining the station’s large garden to cleaning the Community Service Centre.

Sibongile Mashinini and Simon Tshwane are the dynamite team who keep everything in order at the station.

Simon Tshwane takes on weeds in the Parkview Police Station’s parking lot.

When the Northcliff Melville Times visited the station on 8 January, the two were seen chatting up a storm and laughing while tackling the station’s garden.

Mashinini has been part of the Parkview Police Station family for the past seven years while Tshwane has worked for the station since 1994.

The station has a large sign in the centre which states that the station is striving to be the number one station in the cluster, which the duo have adopted and plan on working hard on being number one this year.

“We’re changing in 2018, we’re going to use teamwork,” Mashinini said.

Tshwane took a bolder approach and said this year the station would take home an award for being the best looking station in the cluster. Tshwane joked that his work is always ready for inspection by the station commander.

Parkview Police Station spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said the community wants to come to a clean station and that Mashinini and Tshwane keep up the station’s high standard of cleanliness.

Sibeko said, “These two get here at 6am in the morning and they get to work on the station. They really work hard to keep the station looking good.”
