What to do at Westdene Dam

WESTDENE – The award-winning Westdene Dam Park has something for everyone – and their dog.

Westdene Dam Park’s outdoor gyms, as well as the sports and children’s play areas, are worth visiting, and it won’t cost you a cent.

The award-winning park boasts something for everyone – and their dog.

The park was closed for a few months last year but is open again and has a lot to offer those not wanting to spend a fortune on entertainment.

To keep parks well-maintained and fun for all, they sometimes exclude dogs, but the Westdene Dam Park is not one of them.

Dogs and their walkers are welcome on the park’s paths and the grass. Like other dog parks, it is common courtesy to keep dogs on leashes and to pick up after them should they mess.

For children, there are two play areas – one for older children and another for smaller children.

Gym enthusiasts and sports players have two gyms that work on body weight. Each of the machines at the outdoor gyms has duplicates.

One caters for those for those aspiring to be bodybuilders and a duplicate that caters for those just trying to keep fit.

Netball, basketball, soccer, tennis and many other sports players also have their own haven at the park.

There are two outdoor sports courts – one for sports such as basketball and tennis and another for indoor soccer.

Both courts also boast solar lights which are protected by spikes close to the actual panel to deter people who want to steal them.
