Northwest Christian School rounded off an excellent year in sport with a spectacular showing at the recent Sub-Youth Inter-Provincial Athletics in Potchefstroom.

Damian Brink threw his javelin far enough to come 10th in the U13 division, and Tai Lawrenson finished 12th in the 80m U11 race.

“Our athletes have made the whole school proud,” said the school’s sports coordinator, Gary McNab. “Coming from a small school, they showed everyone what we can do.”

He said two of the school’s soccer teams reached the third round and quarter-finals of the cups they were in.

The swimming team finished fifth in its league, and in athletics, Northwest finished fifth in the D10 league.

Furthermore, athlete Kelsey Geyer (7) won gold in the 600m U7 race at South African Christian Schools Sports Association National Championships. She was set to compete in the inter-provincials but had to pull out.
