Two men convicted of house robberies

MARTINDALE – Two criminals face the might of the law.

The Sophiatown and Brixton police stations managed a successful conviction of two criminals.

Siyabonga Nthuli and Somiso Ngwale were sentenced to 15 and nine years’ imprisonment respectively for crimes committed in Westdene, Melville and Auckland Park.

Nthuli faced six charges against him which included house robbery and theft among others. Police linked Nthuli to four criminal cases by his fingerprints. He was arrested in Brixton in October.

Nthuli pleaded guilty to all six charges and received the minimum sentence for house robbery which is 15 years.

He robbed homes in the Westdene, Melville and Auckland Park areas. During his house robberies, he tied up his victims which included an eight-year-old child.

He stole from his victim’s homes which in some cases extended beyond electronics to cars.

While he received the minimum sentence, his co-accused, Ngwale, received less as he was a first-time offender who only had two charges against him.
