[ONLINE EXCLUSIVE] Abbotts College Northcliff welcomes Grade 8 and 9

NORTHCLIFF – Abbotts College Northcliff welcomes prospective learners to apply for 2018.

Abbotts College Northcliff has exciting plans to expand their school next year to accommodate additional students.

The college presently caters only for Grade 10 to 12. Abbotts College Northcliff principal Shelley van Buren said the school will also cater for Grade 8 to 9 students as of 2018. Various reasons led to the college making the decision to enrol additional grades.

“Across the Abbotts schools which have six campuses, one of the reasons for us to expand is we had the capacity to do so.

If we can get learners earlier than we are presently getting them, we can then channel them to get the results we feel they’re capable of in matric.

Instead of working with them over three years, we can now do so over four years,” said Van Buren.

She said three other Abbotts Colleges have added the same additional grades, however, the Centurion branch will do so sometime in the future.

The goal is to have a maximum of 24 students per class and will be based on the number of applicants for each grade.

As the new year commences, she is aware there may be last-minute applicants she is anticipating. Parents need to follow their application procedure for their children.

“Parents are required to contact the school and set up an appointment in order to go through an interview process. They also need to bring the learners’ most recent academic record, find out more about the student, family and share information about the school.

The next stage would be if their application would be accepted or rejected. If they are accepted, an admission fee would guarantee the child’s place at the school,” said Van Buren.

At the beginning of the year, those who are accepted will be notified about the orientation day and the following week all students are back on campus.
