Roosevelt Park Baptist Church welcomes spring

ROOSEVELT PARK – The Roosevelt Park Baptist Church welcomed spring with a fun for all fete

The Roosevelt Park Baptist Church welcomed spring with a good old fashioned fun for all fete.

On 30 September church and community members got together on the church grounds to indulge in professionally baked cakes, braai meat and of course vetkoek and mince.

The fete was held to both welcome spring and also to raise funds for the maintenance of the church, music equipment and most importantly, to sustain their community work within the area.

Visiting community members had a chance to listen to Reverend Wayne Hoedemaker and his wife Charmaine’s rare record collection while browsing the interesting stalls set up on the grounds.

The fete had something for everyone – rare LP records for collectors to browse through and buy, food for the foodies and no fete is complete without entertainment for little ones. The children’s entertainment was taken care of by a generous church member who is involved with Monkeynastix.

A green Ford Galaxie 500 was also on display for petrolheads and South African rugby fanatics. The classic car’s engine was on display as well as a brave Bokke flag after the team’s big loss against the All Blacks.

Elsa Smith of the church said the Roosevelt Baptist Church is all about community and made sure to call on the members of the church to take charge of the fete instead of outsourcing. The church is planning to have more such days where the community can have a look at what the church is all about.
