Auckland Park’s Apax finishes its fifth annual walk

AUCKLAND PARK – Hundrends of pupils and parents recently joined in the Auckland Park Academy of Excellence’s annual 5km fun walk.

The Auckland Park Academy of Excellence once again had the neighbourhood in a buzz during their annual 5km fun walk to raise funds for two new multipurpose astro courts.

Hundreds of learners, their friends and families all gathered in Richmond Avenue shortly before the walk kicked off on Sunday morning, 17 September.

Laaika Amod and Zahra Patelia, both in Grade 9, pose for a quick photo before the walk.

Fazela Amod, the senior administrator for the academy, said this year was the fifth annual fun walk and the goal is to raise funds for two new multipurpose astro courts and sporting equipment.

“Since we don’t have an astro court yet, it will unlock a lot of opportunities for learners to play new sports,” she said.

This year’s theme was to put your best foot forward in your favourite sports supporter outfit, many kids and their parents showed up with soccer shirts, in full support of various teams.

Could this possibly be Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal and Venus Williams? No, it is Mohamed Raees, Rizvi Ismail and Fatima Gardee dressed up as the three tennis stars for the Apex fun walk.
