Don’t miss this spring fundraiser

ROOSEVELT PARK – Come early and avoid missing out on church fete.

Spring is here for the Roosevelt Park Baptist Church and they are celebrating it with a fete for the community.

The fete will be held on 30 September on the church grounds and the church is inviting their direct and surrounding communities to join them for the morning.

Elsa Smith said some traditional South African foods will be available at the event including cakes, boerewors rolls and vetkoek and mince. “We also have professional bakers making the cakes. They are going to be extra special and are not to be missed,” she said.

The fete will not be all food and no play, a generous member of the church will be setting up Monkeynastix for children. The church also has jungle gyms to keep the little ones busy.

The church will also have something special for music lovers and LP record collectors. They will be selling LPs of all sorts in mint condition and encourage music lovers to join them to dig through their boxes of LPs.

The event is being held not only to celebrate spring but also to raise funds for the church. Smith said the church would use the proceeds to buy new speakers and also to maintain the building and fund their community work.

“We are very involved in the community and give out food parcels. They’re not big but they’re something, and we need funding to keep it running,” Smith said.

The day promises to be filled with good food and fun. “Come early and avoid missing out.”
