Abbotts College Northcliff appoints new second in command

NORTHCLIFF – Izak Stander has only been in the industry for 10 years but has raked in accolades and developed his own skills.

Abbotts College Northcliff is undergoing some big changes with a big promotion for its acting deputy principal.

From 1 August, Izak Stander, acting deputy principal, will officially be the real deal at the school.

He is passionate not only about education among the youth but has proven to be an eternal student himself.

Stander, who started at the school in 2014 and has been acting deputy principle since January last year, studied at the University of Pretoria.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Further Education Training in Economic Management Sciences in 2008.

His teaching career began as a tutor for third year students in Computer Application Technology (Cat) Methodology.

In 2009, Stander was appointed as a teacher at Hoërskool Uitsig where he taught and acted as the Cat subject head and in 2012 was promoted to Information Communication Technology head of department. In addition, he was appointed as the school’s youth council guardian.

Stander trained in, and lectured, Microsoft application programmes at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre.

He was lead teacher with the Gauteng Department of Education for Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (Caps) and also acted as the district subject moderator for Cat.

While Stander has occupied various prestigious positions and has personally pursued education, his journey as a student is ongoing. He is currently enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch studying towards a BEd Honours in School Management.
