Update: Road rage suspect appears in court

EMMERENTIA – A man who is charged for allegedly assaulting a female motorist, appeared in court today.

 

EMMERENTIA – The suspect involved in an assault of a women in a road rage incident was arrested on 3 March and appeared in court today. The incident took place on the corner of Barry Hertzog Drive and Victory Road in Emmerentia, in front of witnesses on 1 March.

Parkview Police communications officer captain Tinswalo Sibeko said that detective Mmeli Mzolo arrested the suspect on Friday for common assault. The suspect appeared at the Hillbrow Magistrate court today.

Meanwhile, victim Candice Wagener said that she was unaware that the perpetrator had been arrested and appeared in court.

“It feels good to know that he has been arrested. I have been battling emotionally especially when travelling on the route where the incident happened. I’m surprised he was arrested so soon, I would like him to get a proper jail sentence; don’t think that community service is good enough,” commented Wagener.
