Friendly tennis camp for all ages

NORTHCLIFF – Tennis coaches meet budding players at the Northcliff Country Tennis Club.

Forehands, backhands, serves and smashes are played with ferocity every week at the Northcliff Country Tennis Club.
Although there are occasional tournaments at the club, much of the tennis is played during coaching sessions between private coaches and their ever-improving players, most of whom are mostly youngsters. One of these coaches is Adam Batten (26), who has coached at the club for five years.
“I teach the sport I love,” Batten said.
“Tennis is very competitive and I love the technique, the style of the game. It is also a big mental challenge and teaches you to be responsible for your actions.”
Under his guidance is 11-year-old Cor Müller who has played tennis for five years and currently plays for Laerskool Fairland.
“Since my two years with Adam, he has showed me a new grip of the racket and helped me not play too straight, among other things,” the youngster commented.
Batten added that he, along with fellow coaches Douglas Mumba and Corne Wagenaar, will host a friendly tennis camp for all ages at the club in December. Although the date is not confirmed as yet, he promised that the camp will be lots of fun and only requires a minimal entry fee to partake.
Details: Adam Batten 063 696 7706.
