Franklin D Roosevelt makes 345 pupils smile

VICTORY PARK – Pupils of Brixton Primary School receive new stationery from Franklin D Roosevelt Primary School.

Franklin D Roosevelt Primary School (FDR) delivered much-needed stationery to Brixton Primary School on 19 October.

Brixton Primary School is a newly opened school catering to pupils from various areas. The school hopes to create their own identity and culture.

A number FDR staff members and pupils packed boxes of stationery and made their way to Brixton, not only to deliver the school supplies but also to bring a smile to the unsuspecting pupils.

Foundation phase head of department for FDR, Ruth Julius said that these stationery boxes were specially made by pupils in grades R to 3 and each pupil put in a lot of effort to ensure it was awesome. Each box contained a colouring-in book, pens, pencils, a pair of scissors, sharpener, glue, eraser, ruler and a pencil case and it was all delivered in beautifully decorated boxes.

A total of 345 stationery boxes were collected and donated. “It was so gratifying and the teachers were all grateful,” said Julius, who added that they hope to spend more time with the Brixton school and foster new relationships.

Julius explained that she understood that new schools need as much support as they could get which was why she wanted to do this for them. She concluded that they plan to go back to do more, this time, with the staff and Grade R pupils.
