Residents help put suspects behind bars

ROOSEVELT PARK – SCP guards and community members help in the arrest of two suspects.

One of the two suspects arrested by Suburban Crime Prevention (SCP) security guards, was allegedly involved in a robbery incident where a school pupil was robbed of a cellphone.

The suspects were arrested on 16 April after attempting to break into a house in Eugene Marais Street in Roosevelt Park.

Valerie Khan from the SCP said a resident spotted a suspicious man lingering in his neighbour’s yard. He then alerted security and other residents through the community security radio system.

Security guards swiftly responded to the scene and found a suspect who had allegedly smashed the window. He tried to jump over the wall. “His accomplice was sitting in the vehicle on the street and we arrested both of them,” she said.
