UPDATE: Thirty hour water disruptions for local suburbs

EMMARENTIA – More suburbs will be without water during the 30 hours water disruptions.

City of Joburg’s water and sanitation service provider, Joburg Water, have warned residents that more suburbs will be affected by the implementation of planned service interruptions for maintenance next week.

Various streets in Emmarentia and Greenside will be without water from 8am until 7pm on 12 April. The disruptions are prompted by the City’s repairs to the existing water mains for a new development.

Honeydew, North Riding, and the surrounding suburbs will be without water from 9am on 12 to 3pm on 13 April. This is due to the shutdown of the water supply as Rand Water will be doing repairs at the Honeydew water tower and reservoir.

Meanwhile, residents are reminded that level-2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhered to.

Level-2 water restrictions according to section 44 (3) of the Water Services Bylaw states that all consumers are compelled:

• Not to water and irrigate their gardens from 6am and 6pm every day

• Not to fill their swimming pools with municipal water

• Not to use hosepipes to wash their cars and paved areas

JW external communication officer Eleanor Mavimbela said water tanks will still be distributed to various suburbs including roaming tankers in all the areas.
