First prize is R4 500, second place receives R2 500, third prize is R1 150, fourth place receives R700 and fifth place receives R550. Chairperson of Pirates Road Running, Hennie Booysen, said, “It is one of the toughest races in Gauteng. If you are a serious runner it is something you have to do. It is a really good indicator for those who want to run the Two Oceans Marathon to see where they are at. You have the most amazing views on top of the hills and get to see the sunrise. Afterwards there are stalls, a play area and big open fields so it turns into a real family day.”
