GALLERY and VIDEO: Children embark on a new chapter

WESTDENE – Orban Private School admits 48 Grade R pupils.

Forty eight children started their new school year at Orban Private School in Westdene on 13 January.

The little pupils embarked on yet another new chapter in their lives.

The school’s friendly environment helped some of the children feel like they were at their own homes.

One by one, they stood up and introduced themselves to their isiZulu language teacher Bongi Masina and classmates.

The children were all taught to greet each other in isiZulu, Sawubona.

At the same time the English language teacher, Euline Coetze allowed the Grade R pupils to share their experience, expertise and opinions in the classroom.

Learning toys and other material were shared among them in the classroom on their very first day, to enable the teachers to understand each child’s area of expertise.

The Grade R class is divided into three classes.

For the foundation phase, the children will be taught languages, drama, music and art including computer studies.
