GALLERY: Opti-Baby hosts Grandparents Day

NORTHCLIFF – Grandparents spent the morning with grandchildren in Opti-Baby Nursery narrating the stories of their time.

Opti-Baby Nursery school hosted annual Grandparents’ Day on 4 September in Northcliff.

Grandparents travelled from as far as Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein to spend the morning with their grandchildren.

Manager and owner from Opti-Baby Nursery, Marita Louw explained that each grandparent received a handprint and a small gift as a gesture of love.

Antoinette’s Marionettes puppets entertained the young and old with a spectacular show.

“While most of the little ones got a chance to dance, hug and kiss marionettes (mouse, ballerina, monkey, belly -ancing diva), some of the grandfathers were very keen to also give a hug to the marionettes,” explained Louw.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, grandparents and young ones enjoyed picnic snacks, tea, and coffee.

“We have been hosting a Grandparents Day at our school for the past seven years to give grandparents the opportunity to spend time with their grandchildren at school. It is an honour to spoil and pay tribute to our children’s grandpas and grandmas,” she said.

She concluded that every year a few great-grandparents also get to spend time with their great-grandchildren.

“It is always a fun filled morning with many interesting stories told by grandparents of their own childhood memories,” concluded Louw.
