Berario Badminton Club wins at the tournament
BERARIO – Berario Badminton Club wins for first time in 20 years.
Local members of the Berario Badminton Club were recently selected to represent Southern Gauteng Badminton Association (SGBA) at the South African Veterans Open and Inter-Provincial Badminton Tournament held in Benoni.
About 18 teams from around the country were present at the tournament.
SGBA won the inter-provincial tournament A section.
Hanna Britz and Angela Hardy won the women’s doubles title in the open event.
In addition, Hardy, Gail McLoughlin, Britz and Glen Brothers were awarded South African Veterans national colours and will represent the SA Veterans team during 2016.
To put the cherry on top, Hanna Britz received the Sports Woman of the Tournament.
According to club member Mcloughlin, the team was overjoyed to have won.
“We are all very happy to have won the tournament as it is the first time in about 20 years that Southern Badminton Gauteng Association has won the A section,” said Mcloughlin.
