Children injured when scaffolding collapses at Delta Park School

DELTA PARK – Scaffolding collapses on pupils at a school.

Four children and one adult sustained injuries due to a scaffolding collapsing at Delta Park School on 1 September.

ER24 Paramedics were on the scene to treat the pupils. Ward 82 councillor Susan Stewart confirmed that the incident had occurred. She had expressed concerns regarding the contractors who are working at the school. “The contractor had been given instructions to stop working on Saturday [29 August] but they are still on site.”

Ward 117 councilor Tim Truluck said that the contractors were contracted by the Department of Public Works.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said, “ER24 paramedics responded to the scene, and on arrival, found an adult male as well as four high school children inside the first aid room being tended to.” He added that all injuries were only minor to moderate.

“Paramedics treated the patients and transported them to a nearby hospital for further care. The cause of the collapse is still unknown.”
