School bus crash leaves 11 injured
PARKVIEW – Light utility vehicle and a school bus collide on Jan Smuts Avenue.
An accident involving a school bus on Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkview, left 11 people injured on the morning of 19 August. “Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a school bus and light utility vehicle were involved in a side-impact crash,” said Netcare 911 Media Liaison Officer Santi Steinmann.
“Upon assessment of the occupants, paramedics found that four people travelling in the light utility vehicle and seven children travelling in the school bus, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.” She said that the injured patients were treated and then transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
“Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events are still unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation,” she concluded.
