Campus Square Post Office moves

AUCKLAND PARK – Residents up in arms due to the Campus Square Post Office moving with no indication of new location.

Residents from Auckland Park are confused and frustrated at the abrupt closure of the Campus Square Post Office.

The closure has caused distress among residents who depend on the Post Office to do their postal transactions.

According to a concerned resident, who did want to be identified, the Post Office moved without a warning. “I mean what happens to our letters now?” questioned the resident.

“This is a real problem for residents because we are all frustrated and we don’t know what is happening,” he said.

He also noted that no notifications were put up informing residents about the move. According to another resident Dorothea Jackson, she is disappointed because the community was not informed.

“What happens to our post boxes, mine is at old Melville Post Office opposite the vet and it is in a disgusting state. My box has been forced open. Campus Square was a very busy PO, so why close it and not the smaller ones at Westdene or Brixton,” Jackson asked.

She believes this is due to lack of care and consideration for long standing customers.

Meanwhile, Ward 69 councillor Katja Naumann commented and said, “The PO is a national institution and does not fall into the City of Johannesburg. I can thus offer no further comment.”

According to Campus Square Centre manager Khanyisile Mdluli the Post Office has moved to Brixton Protea Centre, 80 High Street, Shop 57.
