Paid parking at Cresta

In a statement issued by management of Cresta Shopping Centre, it has been confirmed that Pareto Ltd, the owner of the mall, will be implementing a new, fully automated, paid parking system in all open parking areas, effective August 2015.

“Through careful consideration, we have ensured that the tariffs are more cost effective than similar centres in the surrounding areas, and we will be offering shoppers a one-hour free ‘grace period’ in the open parking areas during the week,” explained Kevin Roman, chief operating officer for Pareto Ltd.

Prior to the introduction of the paid parking system, Cresta outsourced their car guard services to Popo Protection Services T/A Renaissance Security and Cleaning Services.

The guards are formally employed by this company, whose services are rendered to clients like Cresta.

Roman explained that the paid parking system is part of a greater security upgrade at the centre.

Upgrades include enclosing the boundary of the property with the erection of security fencing, installation of new exterior lighting and improved security cameras on the perimeter, repositioning of some entrances to and the layout of open parking areas, and the introduction of entrance and exit control booms.

All plans relating to changes in the open parking areas were approved by Joburg Emergency Services with respect to access of the property by emergency vehicles, and by the City of Johannesburg. with respect to town planning, traffic control, and building plans.

A landscape architect has been commissioned to provide for the planting of trees and plants in the open parking areas.

This has been scheduled towards the end of the construction project, which will include improvements to traffic intersections and the upgrading of Acacia Road.
