GALLERY: What won’t a councillor do ?

LINDEN – Large pieces of glass are removed from a pavement by councillor in order not to endanger nearby school children.

A complaint from a resident saw Ward 99 councillor Bruce Herbert and his council taking it upon themselves, to clean broken glasses on a pavement on 8th Street on 23 July.

What seems to have been a recent car accident left a pavement exposed to large pieces of glass.

The glass seemed to have come from a headlight of a car.

Herbert roped in two of his council members Ellen Levy and Gary Allen to help clean up the pieces of glass.

“Previously when we got the complaint from the resident we assumed it would be a massive amount of glass, it has turned to be a small splatter,” said Herbert.

None the less, the glass was cleaned up and removed from the area.

“I wouldn’t want any school children from Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys or pedestrians to get cut on the glass,” he added.
