Stevens adds another accolade to his golf achievements

PARKVIEW – Young Cole Stevens hopes to nurture his golf talent in the United States.

Cole Stevens (13) from Parkview won the Golf School of Excellence (TGSE) and Central Gauteng Golf Union (CGGU) winter tour tournament on 29 June.

The victory added to his many achievements since he started playing golf at the age of six. The tournament was held at Bryanston Golf Course.

This pupil from Curro Aurora in Sundowner, is a member of the Parkview Golf Club and also part of the Parkview Scratch League team.

The tournament comprised of 36 holes and he firstly returned a score of 78 from the first 18 holes and returned a score of 70 from the second 18 holes. He ultimately won both the gross and the nett in the A-Division.

So far he has received full golf colours at the school, triumphed at the Ernie Els Golf Day and was awarded first position during the Inter-Provincial Primary School Annual Tournament (IPPSG).

Stevens said he enjoyed playing. “I look forward to every next game. I think it’s the challenge to hit the ball on the sweet spot and get it into the hole,” said Stevens.

Inspired by players like Tiger Woods, Jack Mickleson and Jordan Spieth, Stevens is hoping that he would study in the United States on a golf scholarship.

“I trust that in five years from now I will be packing my bags to study in the US so that I can progress my talents and aspirations to be a tour player,” he said.
