GALLERY: Putting the ‘fun’ into fundraiser

Jungle Tots Northcliff held a fun day at its premises on Zulu Street on 6 June to raise funds for its annual Christmas concert in November.

Owner Joanne Malan, a resident of Montgomery Park, said that she was thrilled by how much her playschool had grown over the past eight years. “We started off with just one baby and one toddler in 2007, and now we have 35 babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers, all between the ages of three months and five years.”

There are nine staff members, and the school is split into three sections. “Tinkle Tots is the crèche section,” explained Malan. “This is for babies between three and 12 months. We accept a maximum of five babies, and they are looked after by two dedicated staff. When we feel that they are ready, they will be moved to the Elephant class, for our toddlers. And after that, the Giraffe class, for our pre-schoolers.

“By the time they move onto ‘big school’, they are more than prepared for Grade R.”

“Jungle Tots Northcliff is a family-run business, and we are very family orientated,” said Malan. “Every year we work hard at putting on a really memorable Christmas concert, with parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles coming from far and wide to see our little stars perform. We had a wonderful turnout for our fundraiser, with lots of past pupils coming to say hi and see their old school friends. We are looking forward to putting on another dazzling show this year.”

The school offers a range of extramural activities on the premises, including kids yoga, ballet, baking, gymnobics, ball skills, and swimming in summer. “We also have regular visits from the mobile zoo, which the kids love,” said Malan. “Aftercare and holiday care are also available. We work with the private school calendar.”
