BREAKING NEWS: Four arrested in Wesbank robbery

FAIRLAND – Three suspects are at large, after an armed robbery at Wesbank.

Four suspects have been arrested and three are at large after they were involved in an armed robbery at an MTN store at the Wesbank head office in Fairland this morning.

Fairland Police spokesperson Constable Michael Kgatla, who is currently on scene, said the incident occurred at around 11am.

“One of the arrested suspects was shot by security officers,” said Kgatla.

“Three other suspects fled the scene in a Quantum, which they abandoned at a Gordon Road intersection when the traffic light turned red while police gave chase,” he added.

Kgatla said a shootout ensued at that point.

One of the apprehended suspects hijacked a security company car, and failed at the attempt to escape when he couldn’t find his way out of the suburb.

“The suspect was apprehended at the Wilson Street and Soutpans Avenue intersection.”
