The situation is tense as neighbours gather on the street to see what happened and pass their condolences, after an ex-cop was murdered in front of his wife and family.

A robbery turned into a murder at the home of a former police man at around 3am this morning.
Andre Fabricius was reportedly shot in the heart while his wife Rista and son Dario were tied up in the house.
The family was allegedly attacked by three armed men, one of which carried a gun, and the others axes.
According to Rista’s sister Nadia de Kock, the axes were reportedly used to assault the deceased’s 13-year-old son.
De Kock informed that Dario is currently being helped by a psychologist after witnessing his dad die.
Police, security companies and forensics are currently on scene.
