Sparrow School spoils women

SOPHIATOWN – Women's month may have passed, but Sparrow Schools' Pamper Day ensures that ladies enjoy spoiling all through the year.

Beauty queens and equally beautiful women descended on Sparrow Schools Combined School on 6 September to partake in the school’s women pamper day.

“We want to celebrate our school’s 25 year existence by giving back to a corner stone of our nation – its women,” Sparrow Schools fundraising assistant Pearl Nkosi explained.

This decadent morning was centred around spoiling – as the name Pamper Day suggests – and while vocalist Janis Redde’s acoustic guitar soothed the soul, women received neck and shoulder massages, were treated to wine tasting and listened to the speakers of the day.

Riana Mooi, first princess for Mrs South Africa 2014 and newly crowned Miss Earth South Africa Ilze Saunders spoke about the value of women.

“We need to uplift one another and embrace our differences,” Saunders told the 200 assembled women.

Other leading women that attended included Jolene Martin, TV personality and businesswoman who ran the programme for the day, the newly crowned 2014 Miss Earth elements – Steffani Alexander, Miss Air; Michillay Brown, Miss Water and Roxanne Watson, Miss Fire.

This pampering programme also featured a short DIY presentation by waxing guru Adel Mans, pop-up shops by female entrepreneurs, House of Bontle and various other stalls ensured that shopaholics had an excuse to indulge and take souvenirs home.
