It’s nearly that time of year again, when Jo’burgers arrive in their numbers to support the annual Parkview Christmas Market at George Hay Park, situated between Waterford and Lurgan Streets in Parkview.

Starting on Friday 29 November, the market runs through to Sunday 1 December, giving families a chance to enjoy great musical entertainment that includes artists like Josie Fields, various bands and school choirs. The main act on Saturday evening will be revealed closer to the time, but you can rest assured it’ll be one you won’t want to miss.

Children of all ages are catered for with a host of things to keep them busy – building sand castles, drawing, jumping castles, face painting, enjoying the rides and singing along with parents to the beautiful Christmas Carols.

For just R40 entrance fee – free for children under 12, who pay per ride – there are usually over 70 stalls to browse, including the ever-popular champagne and oyster bar. Nicarela Charities benefit from all the fun visitors have as guests enjoy a variety of foods, hand-made crafts and stocking fillers.

Local community support from Safe Parkview, Time Freight, Gear House, Joburg Parks and others enhances the spirit of the Parkview Christmas Market, which grows year by year. If the sights and sounds of Christmas and festive cheer delight you, join this “weekend Christmas village” and enjoy some merriment to ring in the season.
