“Being able to attract entrants to ride the Amashova in and around Durban is a major tourist attraction for the eThekwini Municipality.

“The safety of these riders is of utmost importance, that is why the partnership between the Amashova team and the Durban Metro Police force is a critical one,” said senior spokesperson for the Durban Metropolitan Service, Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad.

Sewpersad stated that the safety of the riders is important to them as well as making sure that the residents in the areas around the race route are informed about road closures to try limit the inconvenience caused to them on the day.

“We have a good relationship with the Amashova race organisers and plan on pulling out all the stops to ensure the participants are catered for, as well as looking after our patient residents affected by the road closures on race day,” said Sewpersad.
