Hollywoodbets sponsors UK football team in Premier League

Speaking at the launch, Devin Heffer of Hollywoodbets said the partnership will open international opportunities to establish their footprint abroad.

DURBAN-based sports betting company, Hollywoodbets has been named as the new principal partner and front of jersey sponsor for Brentford Football Club, a team based in the United Kingdom.

The team gained a legion of South African fans recently as they qualified to play in the upcoming Premier League.

Devin Heffer, brand and communications manager for Hollywoodbets made the announcement during a live, virtual media launch on Wednesday, August 4 at 11:00.

Heffer said they are the first in South Africa to represent an overseas brand.

“It’s massive for us and for South Africa- being the first-ever South African sports betting company to be on the front of a jersey for a Premier League team is just sensational,” he said.

Hollywoodbets formed a relationship with the UK team in September 2020 through an online conversation, explained Heffer. 

“We started to find our brands were aligned,” he said.

By November 2020, Hollywoodbets were on the back of the team’s jersey.

John Varney, Brentford Football Club CEO, dialled in from West London to speak at the launch.

“Hollywoodbets has been on a journey with us. They started the relationship when we were in the championships. We are absolutely delighted that they stayed with us on that journey and they are going to reap the rewards of us being in the premier league. We are now part of the biggest sports show on the planet. The Premier League is broadcast across the globe,” he said.

Varney said Brentford’s success has been 74  years in the making as they climbed back into the top flight of English Football.

“We’ve had over 3375 league games and 782 players have made their debut for Brentford Football Club since we were last in the top flight,” he added.

Heffer said the partnership will open immense international opportunities to establish their footprint abroad.

“This is the biggest stage in the world, not just the biggest football stage, but probably the biggest sports stage. The Premier League is renowned,” he said.
