Mini for the modern African gentleman

Mini South Africa will be producing 20 units of the Clubman variant in Modern African Gentlemen edition guise.

The special edition made its debut this month at a gala event that took place in Johannesburg. The limited model is the result of a campaign conducted by Mini South Africa where it engaged with listeners from Kaya FM, Heart FM and Gagasi FM. The listeners where specifically asked: “What is a modern African gentleman?”

“The results from across the country were astoundingly similar and resounding: this is a person who lives in the “western world” while remaining truly African. We wanted to show this duality in the form of a car developed in South Africa for a local audience,” Thilosh Moodally, Head of MINI South Africa.

Artist Baba Tjeko, musician Langa Mavuso and award-winning film and commercials director Tebogo Malope helped Mini South Africa, translate the feedback garnered from the campaign, into designs which will be applied to only 10 Mini Cooper Clubman and 10 Mini Cooper Clubman S vehicles which will become available at a later stage.

“MINI is all about iconic design and has always focussed on a sharp eye for quality and the courage to challenge conventions. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to work closely with a group of innovative young creatives to showcase just some of the faces of the MINI Clubman,” Thilosh Moodally, Head of MINI South Africa.
