Durban fashion show launches Miss SA 2018 search

Durban's top fashion designers will battle it out for the honour to dress this year’s Miss South Africa during her reign.

THE highly anticipated countrywide search for Miss South Africa 2018 will kick off with a theatrical fashion spectacle in Durban on Friday, 23 February at the Sibaya Casino, Sun Park.

The event forms part of the Women360 extravaganza that will showcase some of KwaZulu-Natal’s top fashion designers as they vie for the honour to dress this year’s Miss South Africa during her reign.

Judging the fashion show and selecting the winner will be current Miss South Africa Dr Adè van Heerden and pageant coach and creative director Werner Wessels.

Women360, an experiential event that highlights the latest trends in all aspects of a woman’s life, is the backdrop for the regional Miss South Africa selection process. The search will be held throughout the country between February and April at various Sun International venues.

The dazzling fashion creations of Zama Mathe from Zarth Designs, Karen Monk-Klijnstra, Treasure Cindi, Sadie Bosworth, Wynand Lourens, Natalie Rautenbach, Somi Ntsodi and Lorre will be on show at the event.

Gareth Flusk, Miss South Africa executive said the entrants we will see in Durban could be among the top 12 finalists at the end of the regional selection process.

“We’re going on the road to find the next Miss South Africa who will, as her predecessors have done in the past, become a role model for young women in this country,” Flusk said.

Women360 will open from Friday at 4pm and Saturday 10am to 9pm and on Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Miss South Africa 2018 will be crowned on 27 May at Sun International’s Time Square Sun Arena in Pretoria.
