Does your child have what it takes?

KisckArt is looking for a Christopher Robin and several of Rabbit’s friends and relations.

CALLING children to audition to perform in the colourful and faithful adaptation of AA Milne’s classic children’s story, Winnie the Pooh, presented by KicksArt.

Auditions will take place on Saturday, 27 February at The Playhouse Mayville workshop/studios in Ramsay Road, Mayville from 10am.

Children must be between the ages of nine and 13. They should present a short acting monologue or poem and a song with backing tracks on a CD. They should wear comfortable clothes and bring refreshments.

They are looking for a Christopher Robin and several of Rabbit’s friends and relations. No need to make an appointment – just arrive and put your names on a list.

Winnie the Pooh stars Nhlakanipho Manqele as the much-loved bear and Belinda Henwood as his nervous sidekick, Piglet. Others in the cast include Liesl Coppin as bossy but motherly Kanga and Luca Tarboton (Annie in KickstArt’s 2014 production of Annie) as her mischievous offspring, Roo. Bryan Hiles plays Tigger, Roo’s bouncy partner in crime, and Rowan Bartlett plays all-knowing Owl, with Anthony Stonier as ever-efficient Rabbit. Peter Court plays doleful donkey Eeyore and also directs this production. Set and costume design is by Greg King.

The production rehearses from 7 June and will perform at The Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on the UKZN campus. Winnie the Pooh runs from 30 June to 17 July, with performances at 2.30pm Tuesday to Sunday and at 7pm on Friday. No children under three allowed.

Ticket prices are R180, R150 or R120 for adults and R150, R120 or R100 for children and pensioners. Bookings are through Computicket.
