Tribute to Sultans of Swing

Dire Straits fans will love this show coming up at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway.

IF you are a a fan of Dire Straits, then make sure you don’t miss the one-night-only performance of Sultans Of Swing at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on Saturday, 17 October.

For the past eight years, multi-talented musician and master guitarist Mel Botes, has tantalised audiences all over the country with his critically acclaimed musical performances in his series of Pink Floyd tribute shows. Audiences and critics agree that he has mastered the complexity and density of the Floyd in a way that none of the other tribute shows have achieved.

Now, by popular demand, he is presenting the next chapter in this series of stage productions with the long awaited Sultans of Swing – A Tribute to Dire Straits. Featuring the same pin-point accuracy in his playing, the same acclaimed band and the same delightful Botes touch, this show promises everything audiences have come to expect from the virtuoso. As in the case of his previous shows, Sultans Of Swing features an overview of the complete anthology of the band and its enigmatic front man, Mark Knopfler. The title is derived from their definitive song by the same name, which has become a standard in serious guitar playing repertoire.

The well-known Dire Straits songs include Money For Nothing; Walk Of Life; Calling Elvis; Telegraph Road; Private Investigations; and the hauntingly beautiful Brothers In Arms to name but a few.
The show follows the careers of Knopfler and the band. Sultans Of Swing will start at 7pm, and The Barnyard will be offering added value to patrons attending by screening the two Rugby World Cup quarter-finals on their big screen on either side (5pm and 9pm) of the show.

Tickets are R150 per person. Contact The Barnyard Theatre on 031 566 3045 or visit www.barnyard.durban. For further information, e-mail gateway@barnyardthe atres.co.za.
