A COOKING competition that is billed to be the first of many will kick off in May and run though July. The Junior Super Chef Competition open to children between the ages of eight and 13.
The competition is the brainchild of appliance giant, Hirsch’s, which has partnered with Defy.
Commenting on the competition, CEO of the Hirsch Group, Allan Hirsch, said, “We have noticed a lot of interest from children with regards to the cooking appliances that we stock. This has made us realise that there is an opportunity for Hirsch’s to assist with the encouragement of young chefs.
“We have partnered with Defy – a leading brand of cookware in South Africa – to run this fun and exciting project in all our stores. Young chefs will get an opportunity to cook with recently-launched products in front of an audience.”
He added that they believed it was a great opportunity to encourage children to learn to use appliances correctly from a young age, as well as assist in the kitchen.
Prizes include appliances and products from Defy, products from the Jamie Oliver Range and Hirsch’s gift vouchers.
