Justice, at least, should be equal

The swift handling of the case involving the killing of soccer star, Senzo Meyiwa has raised eyebrows.

WHILE the nation is still reeling in shock following the killing of  soccer star, Senzo Meyiwa, the National Prosecuting Authority  said that the man arrested in connection with his murder, Zenokuhle Mbatha will make his next bail appearance on November 11.

Thousands packed the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday to bid farewell to the Bafana Bafana captain and the Orlando Pirates goal keeper. But for a Umgeni Park resident, who was also gunned down in his home in August, justice, its seems, is not in sight. Stephen Edmonstone was shot and killed for his laptop.

His killing sent shock waves through the Durban North community and to date, more than two months after his murder, no arrests have been made. Certainly seems unfair to me and makes one wonder if the same amount of effort is put into finding the killers of every victim of crime in this country.

Edmonstone’s partner, Alvin Meyer, shared his views on the subject with Northglen News readers: https://bit.ly/1zInf60
