Music from way back to rock Sibaya

Get down to Sibaya next weekend to listen to some all time favourites.

DURING the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music evolved drastically, from Shoo Wops and Doo Wops to Rock ‘n Roll and later into soulful disco deviants that became a force to reckon with. This was an exciting time that marked the beginning an ever changing musical era where the future looked brighter and Americans were bursting with optimism. This exciting period marked the birth of unforgettable groups like the Platters & Temptations. Not forgetting Female groups like the Chordettes and the Shirells with chart toppers like Lollipop and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.

If you enjoyed artists like Diana Ross and the Supremes, Barbra Streisand, Ritchie Valens and Etta James, then this show was made for you. Three times recording artist and well known theatre performer, Jaziel Vaugh’hann, who made his theatrical debut as Prince Charming in the adult Pantomimes, teams up once again with Kerry Lee Cherry, recording artist and former Idols contestant, who’s hit song Baby with Verd Eaton won a SA Music Award and made it to number one on East Coast Radio. Song bird Ashleigh Joseph, currently the lead singer of Dukes Combo has been seen in shows like Wizard of Oz, Annie as well as on the iconic SA Idols stage in 2012, all of which have moulded this humble church mouse into the dazzling diva she is today.

Lenny Bowes makes up the fourth and final member of this cast. Adding his 39 years of experience and raising the standard in both recording and theatre. This cast is sure to capture the hearts and minds of music lovers across the board, with sensational songs like My Girl, At Last, Can’t take my eyes off you and I love the night life to name but a few. The show runs from the 11 to 13 July at Sibaya’s IZizulu Theatre. Tickets cost R120 and are available through Computicket.
