SO there’s a move to open a strip club in the heart of Umhlanga Rocks. The Northglen News has been inundated with calls from residents who are opposed to this, even though the initiator says he has not made up his mind. But Shaun Russouw  who runs Teazers in Springfield Park in his interview with the Northglen News, neither confirmed nor denied that he would be opening a strip club but rather fingered uMhlanga residents as being “hypocritical”. Russouw said he would not call the uMhlanga establishment Teazers but rather, Diamond Grill and Lounge and insists that he will not be selling sex.

In answer to the question: “Will you be turning Gordon’s Pub into a strip club?, Russouw said: “How will having a strip club here make a difference to residents. The girls will be strictly regulated and they are not allowed to leave with people who come to the club. Professional people and mainly couples looking for entertainment would be our guests.”

Russouw told the Northglen News that “many apartments in uMhlanga Rocks already have escorts who operate from there as we speak”.

Residents however told the Northglen News that a strip club in the seaside town would devalue their properties and lend an unsavory element to what was known for years as a “village”.
An uMhlanga resident told the Northglen News: “We got wind that he wanted to open a strip club about a month ago.”
