King Shaka Trail Run a success

Jenna Challenor won the race overall with the best time of one hour 45 minutes.

A TOTAL of 350 trail runners participated in the fourth King Shaka Trail run held at Reddam House Umhlanga recently. The three route distances gave everyone a choice of doing either the 5, 10 or 15km trails.

Race organiser, Buzz Bolton, said the start of the race was auspicious with five Zulu dancers helping the runners warm up to a Late Johnny Clegg song.

“Jenna Challenor won the race overall with the best time of one hour 45 minutes. I was quite pleased with the turnout and how well supported the event was. For next year’s event we are planning it to be extra special. This was a fund raising event for Riverside Trails, with the proceeds from the event going to assist with projects inside the home of Riverside Trails namely the Virginia Bush Nature Reserve.

“One of the projects include the upkeep of the 8km of pristine running and walking trails and the upgrade of signage and staircase railings,” Bolton explained.
