Lill ready for UK deadlift event

Kimble is the only South African participating at the Tattooed & Strong in March.

UMHLANGA resident, Lill Kimble is hoping to break her deadlift world record at the Tattooed & Strong in March. The event is the United Kingdom’s most unique powerlifting event takings place at one of Europe’s largest tattoo conventions, The Tattoo Tea Party. The event, now in its fourth year is attracting powerlifters from around the world to compete head to head on the same platform as novice lifters.

For Kimble, who owns and represents Off The Grid (OTG) strength and conditioning facility, entering a competition like this was a dream come true. In January, she hosted a bench press competition which acted as a fundraiser for her upcoming trip. A total of R5 500 was raised by the competitors and spectators on the day.

“I am the only South African at the Competition and is such an honor to represent our club at this prestigious meet. There will be a number of British athletes including some record breakers like Andy Bolton, who was the first man to deadlift more than 1 000 pounds. Winning the world champs allowed me an opportunity to compete here which is very special,” she said.
