Nick Durandt has died
South Africa's iconic boxing trainer was involved in a vehicle collision this afternoon.
SOUTH AFRICA’s most celebrated boxing trainer has died today. Nick Durandt, 53, was on a motorcycle trip in the Free State when he was involved in an accident near Clarens.
It is being reported that an avid biker, Durandt, collided with a vehicle on the road between Bethlehem and Clarens Friday afternoon.
Damien Durandt, is said to have been with his father when the former trainer died in a Bethlehem hospital.
As the news is filtering out of Durandt’s death, messages of sadness this evening are pouring through on twitter.

Durandt left boxing in May last year after a stellar career in the sport. He trained 38 world champion prize fighters over 29 years.
