‘Let us hold the ‘new’ SA flag proudly’

'When I hear of the atrocities committed behind closed doors by the apartheid police, I feel sick'.

I AM a white middle aged South African male. I read the open letter from Zizi Kodwa to the ‘Black Monday’ organisers. I compliment Zizi for his olive branch invitation for all South Africans to join hands and, together build a better country.

I agree with him that the old SA flag must now be forgotten. It brings back too many painful memories to many. Yes, South Africa seemed a safer place 30 years ago, but how can anyone justify the apartheid philosophy which discriminated against so many.

When I hear of the atrocities committed behind closed doors by the apartheid police, I feel sick. South Africa has the potential to be the best country in the world, but we all need to work together; black, white, Indian, and coloured. Why can we not just forget colour and see a South African?

Once Zuma and the Guptas go to jail, all corruption is stopped, and we have a president with a heart for the people, instead of greed for himself, SA will grow from strength to strength. Let us hold the ‘new’ SA flag proudly, and work together for a prosperous country for all.
