CONFUSION often reigns at mini-circles such as the one at the T-junction of Longwoods Avenue and Rinaldo Road. Some drivers coming down Rinaldo aggressively assume that they have right of way since they enter the circle on the right of Rinaldo drivers. At the other extreme, over-cautious ditherers try to intimate: “No, you go first”. Neither attitude contributes to smooth traffic flow.
The K53 Mini-Circle rule is perfectly clear: “Give way to any vehicle that will cross the yield line before you do and is likely to cross your path”. This boils down to a logical first-come-first-served rule, which exercised with a smidgen of care, caution and courtesy, is the way to go.
