I READ your article yesterday in the Northglen News about Jill Shanks being told that she was not allowed to qualify for the new Smart ID card because she was not born in South Africa.
I am a South African citizen, but was born in the U.K., yet I was able to get a new Smart ID card in August 2014. I also went through the Commercial Road branch. The Smart card even states your Country of birth, which in my case says GBD for Great Britain.
