Residents pleased with response from municipal departments

On behalf of the residents of Seaton Road, we would like to thank everyone in all the departments who responded so promptly and worked so hard to restore normality.

AT around 8pm Wednesday, 9 March, a tree on the verge of Seaton Road in Parkhill, fell down, taking with it the electrical cables so it not only blocked the dead end road, but plunged the neighbourhood into darkness. It was reported immediately and in within about an hour, the road was a hive of activity, with Metro Police, the Parks Department, the eThekwini Fire Department and the Electricity Department on site. (And no, we do not have anyone of status or influence living in our little road!) They were amazing! The teamwork was commendable and road was open to traffic again around 11pm. The Electricity Department worked tirelessly through the night and electricity was restored by 7:06am Thursday morning.

By 8:30am, the Parks Department was back to remove tree debris. On behalf of the residents of Seaton Road, we would like to thank everyone in all the departments who responded so promptly and worked so hard to restore normality. The short-lived inconvenience was worth it as we had opportunity to meet some of the unsung heroes of our city. Keep up the great work!
